Welcome to My Tour Tales...

As the new year of 2011 was approaching, I was thinking that I wanted to come up with a way to keep track of all the touring I had ahead of me. When I came up with the idea of doing a blog, I thought that could be a lot of fun. I love to write, and can't wait to follow my travels on here. I hope you find some entertainment from reading this, because I am definitely finding entertainment in writing it!

To start at the beginning, you might want to read "The Unusual Suspects..." first. It has a little bio of the key players in the band. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you can find it in the Archives list.

Thank you so much for stopping by to check it out. I hope you enjoy!

The Unusual Suspects...

There are some crazy happenings if you hang around us long enough. We are quite the eclectic group of folks that perform and tour together. All of us have called Orange County, California home for at least a period of time, yet we are all as different as could be. But we are a family, and are brought together by the music.

Before I get started telling stories of long bus rides, insane airline adventures, and creepy motel nights... I feel the need to introduce you to the key players.

Myself - McKenna Medley
23 years old, turning 24 in a month. The only girl on tour... A "one of the guys" type of chick. Singer, performer and songwriter. Plays piano on occasion. Born and raised in Newport Beach, California but since has moved to Branson, Missouri and is currently embracing the country girl inside me! Tries to eat healthy and work out, but has a wicked sweet tooth. Known to smile and laugh all the time.

My Dad - Bill Medley
70 years old. Recording artist and performer. One of The Righteous Brothers. Some hits include "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" and "Time of My Life". A true performing veteran. The man with all the stories, who can't turn down a chili dog.

Tim Lee - Musician
Our fearless leader. Road manager, musical director, piano/keyboards, harmonica and background vocals. He is the man with the plan. The man that all of us turn to. Keeps us in line- best anyone could anyway, and gets us to where we need to be. Also one of the sweetest men on the planet.

Bob Gulley - Musician
Bass, guitar, and lead/background vocals. Attended Lathrop Jr. High in Santa Ana, Ca. 10 years after my dad. Peace loving hippy. Married to Peggy "Sue". And the owner of a very tiny Yorkie. We go back to our rodeo lounge days. The first person to always talk gibberish at you, and rock the ZZ Top beard.

Larry Hanson - Musician
B3 Organ, piano/keyboard, guitar, mandolin, sax, bass and background vocals. The Utility Man. Also known as Handsome Hanson. A Northerner, who moved to Santa Ana, Ca. as a young lad. Toured with Alabama for 17 years. Known for his coffee addiction and hilariously stupid jokes.

Gabe Rabben - Musician
The kid- 23 years old. He is the drummer, and is also featured on piano, accordion, guitar, bass and background vocals. Utility man in training. (He also song writes with me.) Born and raised in Laguna Beach, Ca. He is the one with the answers- since he has an iPhone and knowledge of technology. He is the stealthy picture taker, and is always ready to make you smile.

Bill Famini - Sound
Our trusted sound man with a love of rock music. Always ready to get us cranked up out there for the audience.

Jeff Schauer - Monitors/Sound
From Wisconsin. Takes care of our ears and general sound. Has a penchant for shorts- no matter how cold it is.

So here is the crew... And with a crew like this, you could imagine how things can get wacky pretty quickly! We are always ready to rock, and back each other up- onstage and off. I know I speak for all of us when I say, "2011... Bring it on!"

So let's get to rockin'!

Stay tuned for an update about our first gig of the new year. 2011 is sure to be a crazy one. Things already got kicked off into insanity at Casino Rama in Ontario, Canada. I'll be posting about that soon!
